Our module makes the built-in wordpress functionality look nice and work better, but does not change any of the underlying ways that password protected pages actually work (other than the re-lock function).

I’m guessing that you have set up your site as a static page for your home page, and another page to be the blog posts page?
I’ve just tested that configuration, and it looks like WP will not respect the password protection on the blog “posts page” if you have a static home page.

It seems that this is a bug within WP, and I can’t think of a simple way to get around it for you – though a template page which replicated the effect of the posts page but actually was a “normal” page would be one way to approach it.

Hi, This would be great but I cant seem to get it to work. I get the password protection box on my individual posts but not on a whole page.

I have a news page that I want to password protect, into the news i have several posts. I can get each post to be protected but I would like the whole page to be protected. thanks…

To make a wordpress page password protected, you have to go to the actual page that you want to protect (either in “Pages”/”Add New” or “Pages”/”Edit”).

Then to make the page password protected you go to the right hand side
where under “publish” where it says “Visibility: Public” and you change that to being password protected.

It’s that simple!

If you want to show an excerpt from your protected page, then add a “more” which is one of the buttons on the editor, Everything above the “more” will show up, and everything after it will be hidden. This is one of the features of this wordpress plugin.

I would love to be able to make this plugin work! It would be really useful.

Using Wordpress 2.8.4 I create a page of text, I set the visibility to
protected and choose a password.

When I view the page I get the text I wanted to protect at the top of the page and the padlock/password box at the bottom!

This occurs even on test computers with clear cookies/cache.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks
