We have just completed a quick project for one of our long-term clients, Gary Chapman. Gary had started blogging on the WordPress.com website, but it didn’t take him long to realize what he was missing out on by not having a self-hosted WordPress website. So he came to us.
It is actually very straightforward to move a site from .com to a self-hosted domain, but the skill comes in then improving the site by adding in those things that you can’t do on WordPress itself. Things such as using some of the more powerful SEO plugins, using caching and minimization to speed up the site.
And the biggy …
You can have your own domain name and your own email addresses with a self hosted website.

We honestly thought that WordPress themselves would be faster, but how wrong we were!
The self hosted site is 2x faster than the WordPress.com site. Amazing!
